Gangs of youths roam our streets at night, rolling innocent people, robbing and injuring them for money, jewelery and mobile phones. Not content to rob them of money, these gang members take great pleasure in bashing a near killing their victims.

I was watching the telly the other day and on Channel 9’s A Current Affair they ran a story on the growing problem of young thugs who were members of violent gangs in Sydney or Melbourne, I’m not sure what city they were in but, it doesn’t matter much because the gangs are in every state of Australia. The guys they interviewed were from two rival ethnic groups. One being from the Pacific region and the other from a middle easterm origin.

What these gang members admitted to, scare the shit out of me. These guys hated us(the general Australia public) and would when ever they wanted, attact, rob and even kill if need be. Now I am the father of 2 young adults who for a number of years have said to me that gangs and violence was an every night thing in Adelaide and nobody is safe and if I didn’t arm myself, I would be a victim of one of these gang attacks if I didn’t watch myself. Boy, I was bowled over after the report.

Who the hell do these people think they are? What gives them the right to roam our street and terrorise us and our loved ones. now, Im not a small man and I don’t scare easy, but I ve had to reconsider how liberal I have become when It comes to my kids freedom, especially at night. Do I do what my son suggested and arm myself with a baseball bat? Or lock myself in my house and only come out when the sun comes up?

We all agree that the world hs changed. The yanks have had violence like this for 30 years, but us aussies are not used to people coming here and then hate our society so much that they want to harm us. This is relatively new. What do we do to combat this problem?

Now, if the Prime Minister came to me and asked me to take over a gang strikeforce, I would do what my stepfather did in the late 50’s and 60’s. I would commission a 100 man task force of crack police officers and give them the power to come down on these gangs, with little mercy. But, thats the point of view of me. I hate the idea that these people are just outside my door and at anytime they could come in, bash and kill me, rape my partner and bash my kids.

After the 911 attack on the World trade Centres, countries like our brought in legislation that was suppose to protect us from any form of terror. What could be more terrorising than know, that at any satge during a great night out, a 10 kid gang could corner you and take everything you have, after smashing you senseless and just too see how it feels, stick a 6″ knife into your side. This is terrorism!

Can’t we put these gangs under the terrorism shadow? Or should we feel sorry for these kids because they are under priveledged and were treated badly as a kid. Or should we consider that a lot of them are of ethnic origin and get discriminated against. I dont care what ethnic origin you are. Im a Hungarian German, a wog if you like. But I dont walk around with my colours on claiming my culture is better than anyone elses and make war with anyone else who may be different to me.

No excuses, one strike and your out guys. We need to take back the life we once had. Enough with the pussy footing around by the do gooders in power. The powers to be have to get a backbone and do what the rest of us reasonable people want done and that is to clean up the shit in our country.

Lock up the drug pushers, give more help to the drug addicts, ban gangs under the Terrorism Legislation, no bail for anyone who commits a violent crime and give the cops the power and laws to do the job we want them to do and Im sure what they want to do. We are way to soft, too generous and too understanding.

If something is not done to make us all feel safe in everything we do, some of us will do it ourselves. Patrol our street, move on anyone who has no reason to be there.

As you can tell from my rantings, this gang thing has got me so worked up Im even making speeling errors hehehe. But, seriously, what do you think. Do you think these thugs have a right to war on our streets, gang rape a skippy(gang lingo for aussie chick) and kill innocent people in cars while running away from the Police? I really want to know!
